Young Master Jian had been feeling rather troubled lately.
He couldn't avoid sitting at the same conference table with Li Yu.
On this very unlucky day, Li Wenxun invited him to view potential office locations.
He arrived half an hour late at the first location, only to find the two Lis pacing around the room. Li Wenxun seemed to be
measuring the office dimensions with measured steps, while Li Yu was discussing something with the agent. The moment he appeared at the doorway, all three turned to look at him.
Jian Suiying's gaze locked instantly with Li Yu's. He frowned and turned to head toward the elevator.
"Suiying!" Li Wenxun called out, rushing after him, with Li Yu close behind.
Jian Suiying tapped the elevator buttons repeatedly, inwardly cursing whoever had called the elevator within the three or four seconds he'd been inside.
Li Wenxun pressed his shoulder and chuckled, "Don't leave yet. Come see what this is about." Jian Suiying shot him a glare.
Li Yu approached too, stopping ten paces away, his dark, bright eyes fixed quietly on him.
Li Wenxun patted him on the back. "Hey, Suying, can you cut it out? Can you act a little more professional? We're here today
to scout office locations. Once we're done, you go your way, he goes his. You're not usually this dramatic."
Jian Suiying stormed past Li Yu with a dark expression and entered the building.
The three office buildings they viewed that afternoon were all handled by a single agent. After touring all three locations, they stopped at a coffee shop
to rest and negotiate prices with the agents.
Thirsty, Jian Suiying took a sip of tea as soon as it arrived and immediately scalded his mouth, his face wrinkling slightly.
Li Yu's hand froze mid-air, feeling rather awkward. He slowly lowered it and casually poured Jian Suiying another cup of tea.
By the time the contract was signed, night had fallen. Li Wenxun suggested grabbing dinner.
Jian Suiying glanced at the couples who had appeared in the café at some point and said, " "
there'll be no seats left."
Li Yu's face turned pale, her fists clenched tightly beneath the table.
Li Wenxun curled his lips. "Fine, go find your little sweetheart. Waiter, the check please!" Li Yu stood up. "I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom."
The cafe was incredibly busy today. After asking for the bill, waitstaff bustled around them but no one attended to them for ages.
By the time Li Yu returned, the bill had been settled, and the three of them walked out together.
When they arrived, the place was already crowded, and their cars were parked quite far apart. Li Wenxun's car was closest. After exchanging greetings, he
and drove off.
While Jian Suiying searched for a parking spot, Li Yu followed him closely, insisting on parking right beside him. So the two walked toward the cars, one in front and one behind.
walked toward the cars.
Though Jian Suiying pretended to stroll ahead casually, he kept a wary eye on Li Yu behind him, wary of what he might do.
Finally reaching the car, Jian Suiying glanced at the tire under the light—flat as a deflated balloon—
and felt the veins on his forehead throb.
He spun around and glared at Li Yu. "You did this?" Li Yu glanced at the tire and shook his head innocently.
With no proof, Jian Suiying gritted his teeth in frustration. He kicked the tire hard and pulled out his phone. Li Yu stepped forward. "I'll drive you back."
Jian Suiying turned sideways, ignoring him. "Hello, my tire's flat. Send someone over. We need help. I'm at..."
..."
After hanging up, Jian Suiying opened his car door, intending to wait inside. The moment he closed it, Li Yu slid into the passenger seat.
Jian Suiying snapped, "Are you ever going to stop?"
Li Yu said calmly: "Do you despise me that much? You can't even bear to be alone with me."
Jian Suiying, too irritated to mind the cramped compartment, lit a cigarette. "Yes. Seeing you annoys me. I hope I never see you again in this lifetime."
see you again."
Jian Suiying tucked her trembling fingers into her pocket and sneered coldly: "Blowing smoke sure doesn't cost a thing. All this sour-grapes talk
roll off your tongue so easily. Don't talk about whether I need others—how do you prove you're stronger than me?" Li Yu asked, "How do you want me to prove it?"
Jian Suiying narrowed his eyes at him. "You've taken a lot of money from me. You've got capital for anything now. This time, investing
Jian Suiying was deliberately making things difficult for him. Not only were there few people in the world who could earn that much money, but even if they could, who would
hand it over to someone else?
To his surprise, Li Yu grew agitated. "If I compensate you, will you forgive me?"
Jian Suiying scoffed. "If you're offering to hand over money for free, I might consider it." She didn't believe for a second that Li Yu could pull it off.
Li Yu's voice cracked. "Brother Jian, I will make it happen." Jian Suying turned his head away. "Now get out."
Instead of leaving, Li Yu slammed the car door shut. "Planning to spend Valentine's Day with Xiao Zhu today? I won't let you spend it with him." Li Yu's words were unwavering.
Jian Suiying glared at him. "What gives you the right? Your big mouth?"
Li Yu chuckled softly. "Not only will you not spend it with him, but you'll be spending it with me today." Jian Suiying snapped, "Did a donkey kick you in the head?"
Li Yu glanced at his wristwatch. "It's about time. Old Man Jian should be arriving at your place soon." Jian Suiying looked at him in surprise. "What?"
Li Yu stepped past the door handle, closing in on Jian Suiying until she could smell the familiar scent of his aftershave. He pulled out her car keys. "I brought the old man from Qinhuangdao."
Jian Suiying grabbed his collar, narrowing his eyes coldly. "Say that again."
Li Yu gently clasped his hand. "Your grandfather. He's in the apartment we once lived in together."
