Chapter 56

Jian Suiying finally coaxed Li Yu into submission, averting a violent outburst in the restaurant parking lot.

The two prepared to get in the car and leave.

Li Yu settled into the driver's seat. Jian Suiying walked around the car to get into the passenger seat.

Just then, a black convertible suddenly swerved into the parking lot.

Jian Suiying had loved cars since childhood, so she instinctively glanced at the make and model. But when she saw the person behind the wheel, her eyes suddenly blazed with fury.

That kid with his hair dyed a sickly yellow—wasn't that her idiot cousin Bai Xinyu, the one who'd swindled her out of money and vanished into thin air?

Jian Suiying slammed the car door shut and roared, "Bai Xinyu!"

Bai Xinyu turned just in time to see Jian Suiying charging toward him like a demon.

The young man was scared out of his wits. His hands trembling, he reinserted the key, started the engine, and floored it, speeding away.

The entire incident unfolded in mere seconds. By the time Li Yu emerged from her car, Bai Xinyu's vehicle was already nowhere to be seen.

The parking lot was left with only a furious-looking Jian Suiying, a puzzled Li Yu, and a bewildered beauty. Jian Suiying walked over to the woman and asked, "How long have you known him?"

The woman glanced at him warily. "Who are you?"

Jian Suiying gritted his teeth. "I'm his brother."

The woman looked at him doubtfully. She was furious that Bai Xinyu had left her alone and run off, so she replied coldly, "We've known each other for a long time."

"Didn't he go abroad? When did he come back?"

The woman pursed her lips. "Why are you asking all this?"

Jian Suiying was seething with anger, his tone sharp: "None of your business! Just answer!"

Startled, the woman took a step back, watching him warily. "He came back last week. Saturday, I think."

Jian Suiying ignored her and turned back to the car.

Li Yu didn't start the engine either, just waited quietly for his anger to subside.

Jian Suiying cursed, "That fucking bastard finally had the guts to come back. Running away when he saw me? What a fucking coward. If I catch him, I'll beat the shit out of him."

Li Yu stared thoughtfully in the direction where Bai Xinyu's car had vanished. "He's already sold the house. Even if you caught him,

, what good would it do?"

This question stumped Jian Suiying.

He'd only been focused on catching Bai Xinyu and giving him a thorough beating. He hadn't really thought about what to do with him afterward.

Getting him to cough up the money for the house was impossible—the kid had probably blown it all by now. Even if he killed him, the money wouldn't come back.

. Besides, if you really did the math, the cost price for three houses wasn't that much. Jian Suiying wouldn't go so far as to kill him over this.

He and his father had helped their family a lot over the years, and his aunt and uncle listened to him. This was partly for Bai

Xinyu, but also to discipline him and vent their frustrations. Li Yu shook her head gently. "You're really cruel."

Sending a spoiled, lazy, pampered young master into the rigid, monotonous military—the suffering

pain was unimaginable. Bai Xinyu would probably cry himself awake every day and likely wouldn't last even half a month.

Jian Suiying sneered coldly, "I'll see if he dares play tricks on me now. I'll teach him a lesson he won't forget."

What had started as a romantic dinner was ruined first by Xiao Zhu's call, then by Bai Xinyu's appearance, leaving both of them feeling rather down.

Jian Suiying had planned to find a hotel for some intimate time, but now he had no desire for it.

The two chatted half-heartedly as Li Yu drove into the underground parking garage and pulled into Jian Suiying's spot.

Jian Suiying studied his expression, then suddenly had an idea. He asked: "You don't think it's a ring, do you?"

Li Yu looked awkward, neither confirming nor denying.

Jian Suiying realized he’d genuinely misunderstood, and he couldn’t help but feel both amused and exasperated.

He opened the box. Inside lay the key to his home, resting quietly. "I just thought it looked nice this way..."

Li Yu picked up the keys and weighed them in his palm. For some reason, receiving something from Jian Suiying for the second time felt unusually heavy.

"I know asking you to move in with me isn't realistic. Anyway, now that you have the keys, treat this place like your own home. Come whenever you like."

Li Yu clenched the keys, slipped them into his pocket, and smiled: "Alright."

Jian Suiying leaned over, cupped the back of his head, and kissed him. "Hey, seriously, whenever you come over, I'll have someone scrub the pool and refill it with fresh water..."

"Oh, you have a pool upstairs too?"

"Yeah, but I realized spending money on that thing is a waste. I've hardly used it a few times, but..."

Jian Suiying licked his lips, "How about we do it in the water?"

Li Yu's breathing suddenly grew ragged. He gently bit Jian Suiying's lip, his words muffled as if spoken to no one in particular. "I have to go home."

Jian Suiying chuckled, "I know. Go ahead. I didn't say it had to be today." Li Yu growled, "Then why did you tease me?"

Jian Suiying giggled, "How did I lure you?" While denying it, his hand slipped inside the other's clothes.

Li Yu grew restless under his teasing. Forcing himself to steady, he slowly pushed him away. "Brother Jian, I really need to go home. Something came up."

Jian Suiying looked disappointed, patting his cheek. "Alright, go home then." He started to get out of the car.

Li Yu grabbed his shoulders and pinned him against the door, pressing his lips firmly against his. They kissed passionately, intense emotions exchanged between their lips and teeth.

Li Yu murmured, "The day after tomorrow. I'll come then."

"Alright... I'll show you my new swim trunks, hehe."

Li Yu reluctantly released him and pressed the door lock.

Jian Suiying kissed him one last time before opening the door to get out. But just as he was about to close the door, his hand suddenly froze.

Li Yu turned to look at him.

Jian Suiying smirked mischievously. "I'd give you a really expensive one. You'd be crazy to turn it down." Li Yu forced a laugh. "Do you think I'm a woman?"

Giving a ring might make people think of proposals or something. He genuinely had no intention of doing something that foolish. He just thought it would be nice if the two of them

couple wearing matching rings would be nice.

He said, " " "Just kidding. I'm heading up. See you later."

So the next day after work, he drove past Yansha and stopped in to pick out a diamond ring.

After browsing without finding anything to his liking, he called a friend who ran a jewelry business for his wife on the way home

and mentioned he wanted to commission two men's diamond rings.

His friend teased him mercilessly over the phone, then deliberately goaded him: " "

my wife might not even agree to this."

Jian Suiying retorted with a laugh: "Damn it, does she need a door handle set in there to agree? Let me tell you, this task is still

handed over to you. If I'm not satisfied with the result, I'll come after you."

"Cut the crap. If you were just dating someone and giving rings back and forth, I wouldn't be curious. Just tell me—satisfy my curiosity."

"No way. I can't say."

"You're such a pain in the ass, Jian Suiying."

Jian Suiying said, half-joking, half-serious, "I really can't tell you. And you're not allowed to pry either. You definitely can't tell anyone else."

Seeing he was serious, the guy—who knew when to back off—dropped it. He promised to find the best jewelry and guarantee his satisfaction.

Jian Suiying hung up the phone feeling smug, already anticipating Li Yu's reaction when he received the ring.

He'd already decided: if that brat Li Yu dared refuse it after all his careful planning, he'd make him eat the damn ring.
